We are working with Ohio election attorneys, Cliff Arnebeck, Bob Fitrakis and Henry Eckhart to find out the truth about recent information indicating that Karl Rove architected and directed a strategy to manipulate elections through the use of computers. Rove’s Cyber Guru, Michael Connell, has worked for the Bush family for over 20 years and helped Bush Sr., Jeb and Bush Jr. “win” their elections using his computer skills. Whistleblowers, including Republicans, say that several of these and other national elections have been rigged through various invisible and illegal means, including vote tabulation manipulation, improper partisan use of the Justice Department to target Democrats and uncooperative US Attorneys, and the laundering of hundreds of millions of corporate dollars funneled into fake advocacy groups directed against Democrat candidates running for public office. Ex-Alabama Governor Don Siegelman has stated publicly that Rove was the person who directed Siegelman’s rigged election and criminal prosecution. According to the attorneys, Rove’s goal with this strategy is to establish a unitary Executive Branch with a supportive judiciary, a weak legislature and a fearful press. Corporate sponsors of this strategy, such as tobacco, energy, telecom, and pharmaceutical companies are rewarded with hands off government: deregulated oversight, stringent limits on class-action damages, the stacking of high courts with pro-business/anti-consumer Justices etc. http://www.velvetrevolution.us/images/Mukasey.pdf



VR’s campaign is in support of the Ohio attorneys’ use of a federal civil lawsuit in a new legal strategy of taking targeted discovery and depositions of those who have been identified as being involved with or having knowledge of Rove’s CyberGate, including Rove, Michael Connell, Jack Abramoff, Michael Scanlon, Bob Ney, Brett Rapp, Ken Blackwell and others. The attorneys intend to file a racketeering RICO lawsuit against those identified in this case and will refer any proof of criminal activity to both state and federal authorities for criminal prosecution.



This legal strategy will require significant resources for lawyers, expert witnesses, videotaped depositions, public relations, and investigators. The attorneys will need to go toe to toe with the top lobbyist law firms which will be hired to represent these targets. One of our targets is the US Chamber of Commerce which has spent close to a half billion dollars on lobbying since George Bush was inaugurated. Corporate vendors ravaging US democracy
Vendors are Undermining the Structure of U.S. Elections

"As we approach the 2008 general election, the structure of elections in the United States - once reliant on local representatives accountable to the public - has become almost wholly dependent on large corporations, which are not accountable to the public," states a report released today by VotersUnite.Org, entitled "Vendors Are Undermining the Structure of U.S. Elections."
The report - based on interviews with state and local election officials, news reports, reports from governmental agencies, vendor contracts, and other public documents - focuses on the pervasive control a handful of voting system vendors exercise over election administration in almost every state and how officials and ordinary citizens can strengthen public control before this year's election.
While local election officials across the country are legally accountable for election administration, decisions at the federal and state level have rendered most of these hardworking public servants unable to administer elections without the equipment, services, and trade-secret software of a small number of corporations, whose contracts disclaim all accountability.
Case studies of local jurisdictions show a sampling of the difficulties this double bind causes for state and local officials and illustrate some of the ways in which vendors exploit the situation.
The report explores how federal and state governments have facilitated vendor-dependency and examines the major vendors' histories, which reveal case after case of unethical and even illegal behavior.
"Entrusting our elections - and thus our democracy - to private corporations would be reckless, even if they had proven track records of competence, integrity, and ethical behavior," Theisen said. "But entrusting our elections to these corporations is beyond reckless; it is courting disaster."
The report also profiles several election officials who have resisted vendor-dependency. Oklahoma and, more recently, Oregon offer concrete examples of how states can significantly reduce their dependence on private vendors. According to Theisen, local officials can take back more control than many of them may realize, and in time for the 2008 general election.
County Director of Elections Leonard Piazza said the report validates the hard work of people in his office to know the system and not be dependent on outside help. "This particular report truly underscores some of the most important work we've be able to accomplish together as a county - hard work that has saved county taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars," he said.
"Even where elections are virtually run by vendors - and there are many such places," Theisen said, "local officials have the authority to monitor, and expect answers from, vendor technicians who are doing the work."
"After all," Theisen added, "the vendor is paid with taxpayer dollars, and answerable to, the election director."
The final section of the report gives practical advice to election officials, recommending specific steps they can take to increase their control over the elections for which they are accountable. It also recommends actions private citizens can take to assist local officials in overseeing the vendors.

Chamber of Commerce helps to fix elections for the GOP
Chamber Of Commerce Launders Money To Fake Front Organizations To Fund Attacks On Candidates

The untold story behind our new RoveCyberGate campaign is frightening:

We have learned from attorneys that the Chambers of Commerce, both US and state, have a political arm that works closely with Karl Rove to raise hundreds of millions of dollars for the purpose of manipulating elections. That money is used to create fake front organizations as so-called "advocacy groups" to attack candidates who are not "pro-business." The advocacy group donors are exempted from disclosure.

The attorney who is handling the RoveCyberGate case, Cliff Arnebeck , is one of the only lawyers in the country to ever sue the Chamber of Commerce over this practice. He did so in the case of Ohio Justice Alice Robie Resnick where the Ohio Chamber spent over $4 million to unseat her using the front group, Citizens for a Strong Ohio. In short, the Ohio Elections Commission and every court thereafter held that the Chamber criminally violated election laws by taking large amounts of undisclosed funds to make political attacks on specific candidates.

This is a nationwide strategy to attack progressive candidates and stack the judiciary with pro-business judges. Big business benefits with hands off regulations, lax enforcement, and policies that pump billions of dollars into the coffers of energy, tobacco, pharmaceutical and military corporations. Since the election of George Bush, the Chamber of Commerce has been one of the largest lobbying organizations, spending almost $400 million. It intends to spend millions more in the upcoming election, much of illegally and unreported. We intend to expose the Chamber, the fake front groups, and the dishonest, partisan companies funding this anti-democratic operation.
