"The present status of society is but the result of the struggle of humankind during this and preceding periods - yes, struggle! "You cannot reform society by the sprinkling of rose oil" said Mirabeau, and history proves the correctness of this statement. In no age did the rulers and despoilers of our race relinquish their hold upon the throat of their victims, unless forced to - by logic and argument? No...Blood, the precious sap was ever the price of liberty." August Spies, 1886

and I sent her something similar (loud) and I was afraid she was going to stop talking to me. Actually, when's the last time I heard from her..
Great tune.
To 2010 I say good riddance. It was a very difficult year here to say the least.
At the beginning of the year I had trials with the job and eventually got thrown out after a very hot altercation with the boss man, this following months of manipulations and in-fighting. It took over two months for it to settle and there are still some traces and scraps lingering and festering.
During that time I was called to St. Louis where my best friend in life was hurting and on her way out. My mother passed away in early February. I still think of her almost every day. She suffered immensely in her last two weeks and witnessing all of this unbearable. There is no way to give her full credit and love for all she did for her children.
In May I suffered a terrible gall bladder attack and what should have been routine surgery turned ugly and one week later after living on ice chips and morphine I emerged from the hospital weak and incapable. It took a full month or more to recover.
In late summer my father died. My brother called just to let me know, he knew I wouldn't come to the funeral. An abusive man who deserved no respect or care, exactly what he gave to others.
A smaller matter but in late October my car failed inspection, a car I had for twenty years, and no way of repairing the rusted out axles etc., despite the fact that the Honda engine still runs perfectly. Have yet to replace that and will need to soon.
On the bright side I am still in a passionate loving relationship after three years and have two beautiful children, though the manipulative and spiteful mother of these two make it tricky at times, and have found better employment.
So I'm glad to see 2010 go, never liked even numbers, and look forward to better days in 2011 though I've rarely placed significance on this shift in year number celebration.
Have a fire going outside and some wine for later. Hope you are well Dahl.
Happy New Year.

side. Sorry to hear about the heartaches and headaches. I had a bastard of a Dad, too, and when he died, I had to do too much of the shit associated with dying in this society. But, I did it for my mom (she is a whole different story, lol).
In solidarity, I am going to look for the cork-screw right now...

On the smaller matter of the car, you can probably replace the axles yourself. You have a geo metro, right?
that is so hard. I lost my grandmother in college and felt the same way.
I have to lol @ the even numbers though - I am the opposite and the start of this year was jinxed already with the loss of my beloved Badgers in the Rose Bowl. We will see how the rest goes ...
I can't imagine losing my mom, it's something I just try to not think about. I hope this is a better year for you and family.
when I drink I don't remember and nobody else forgets, so I'd love it for you to have my share.
I am so sorry about your Mom, too, I was worried about my own this summer, but seems she's back to the best she can be at 84.
I have a constant eye out for an amazing car deal, keep em crossed.
Happy New year to all, one filled with good health, love, all needs met, and lots of laughs!

I like it...good to dance and scream to!
Like the "Yes" piece for the memories of my first big concert, Rick Wakeman in a flowing gold caftan, in Ithaca in fact, small world.
Where is Megan anyway?

Sorry you lost your Mom, chlamor. Very rough year for you. Similar to the year before last for me.
