The CIA began as an offshoot of the Bush Crime Family, and the two are still very much connected. Joe Wilson, in fact was a close friend of Poppy Bush, and Poppy proclaimed him a "national hero" when he was in the White House.

It's fair to say that the Wilsons themselves might be somewhat more ethical human beings than the Bush Crime Family, or a complete shitbag like Larry Johnson, and that would account for their refusal to play along with the evidence manufacturing scam that Cheney pulled to build the fraudulent case for invading Iraq.

But degrees of ethics among spies is kinda like degrees of racism among Klansmen. It maybe true that one who merely burns crosses is less vile than someone who actually lynches people. But they are still a hateful son of a bitch. And the Wilsons are still CIA spies.

We all have this tendency - and by god don't the fascists play on it! - to think of the lesser evil as somehow being good by comparison to greater evils.
