A message from the Secretary General of Iraq Freedom Congress

Forwarded to me by Amjad Al-Jawhary, whom I met in June as part of the Iraqi Labor Leader visit to the US to build ties with US labor See US Labor Against the War. http://www.uslaboragainstwar.org/art...t=type&type=78

The Iraq Freedom Congress was formed to "boot out the occupation."

Attached is an article written by Samir Adil the Secretary General of Iraq Freedom Congress. He criticizes a certain group of left who supports the ongoing violence and terrorism in Iraq stating that it is legitimate and patriotic resistance. Without further explanation please find the attached file and feel free to respond using the reply button.

For how long the left will go blind.

When you ask someone who classifies himself as leftist: is it fine with you an establishment of a Christian state in your country? He will answer with resentment: of course NO. But when you ask him: is it fine with you an establishment of an Islamic state in Iraq? He will show an absolute carelessness, as long as it defies American imperialism. He does not even want to think for once, about what crimes the Islamic groups are committing in the name of resistance. These groups have banned foreign potato chips and gums in Anbar University, forcing beard growing, and beheading their opponents and throwing their heads into the streets.

Prior To the election Zerqawi has said “if 90% of the Iraqi constitution was Islamic and 10% is not, the society will still be considered infidel”. In another declaration he said even if the occupation is ended we will work on forming an Islamic state in Iraq. in other words the occupation has become a pretext for them to cast their Islamic projects in Iraq.

The fling of this kind of left lurk in its idiotic ways of thinking; he unknowingly meets with the American policies and its agenda in Iraq. The American ambassador to Iraq expressed his happiness to the draft of constitution; this draft is actually a declaration of an Islamic state in Iraq. The American administration does not care about the fate of millions of Iraqis including women under the Islamic constitution and laws as long as they comply with their policies and legitimize their crimes in Iraq. Likewise, the left in the west does not really care about the fate of the Iraqi society as long as the new Islamic state will over run the American imperialism.
In the same way Noam Chomsky, the well known left and anti-American thinker did not condemn or denounce the political Islam for their crimes in September 11. He directed his anger towards the American administration without even mentioning the political Islam who was another factor of terrorism where his symbols and figures are not less criminals than George bush and his assistants.
I can’t predict the position of these kinds of left when one of them is getting blown away by one of the road side bombs or suicide bombers while he is walking by a restaurant or shopping centre in this American time as they call it in their literatures. What are their feelings when they witness children cry out because of burning eyes resulted from severe shortage of sleeping caused by high temperature reached most of the time 47C° in a region deprived of electricity for long time because their comrades have targeted the power stations….. Is their position will be the same?

The American administration along with the leftists has sworn in to implement their racist policy against the people of Iraq. Both sides practically decided that the human being in Iraq does not deserve civilized society far from political Islam sword, and to enjoy his rights and freedom. If this left thinks seriously to serve a human being so he must change dramatically his thoughts. Any policy does not serve the interests of human being can not be or must not be considered leftists.

Iraq freedom Congress was formed to boot out the occupation. If the left and the west serious in order to take his position as a left they should support this movement and stop supporting the crimes of the political Islam

    repeal the IWR !!

thanks for posting this ... the language takes a little work but i hope it doesn't discourage others from taking the time to read it ...

Samir Adil's letter really hits home ... the problem in Iraq has always been about finding a negotiated settlement among the Kurds, the Sunni and the Shia ... but the US has done nothing but prevent negotiations from occurring ... in fact, there has never been any attention paid to Iraq's political process beyond trying to install a pro-US puppet regime ... and they haven't been overly effective even doing that ...

too many Americans believe the myth that the "insurgents" are part of the jihad ... they believe the myth that al Qaeda has infiltrated Iraq and comprises most of the "anti-democratic insurgency" ... it's nonsense ... estimates on the percentage of foreign fighters battling the US run between 2 and 10 percent ... most of these fighters came from Saudi Arabia ...

but the US beats the wardrums against Syria and Iran ... it's an obscenity that could soon lead to a broadening of the war ... when Nixon did that during the Vietnam war by going into Cambodia, the Gulf of Tonkin resolution that authorized the war in Vietnam was repealed!! ... can you imagine today's Democratic Party calling for a repeal of the IWR if bush attacks Syria ?????

the US troop training program doesn't make any sense ... what we're doing is heavily arming and training Shia militia who turn around and abuse their power by slaughtering the Sunnis ... what we've essentially done is pick sides in the Iraqi civil war ... it's totally crazy ... the insurgency has no choice but to continue fighting ...

So, what are the options in Iraq??

Seymour Hersh identified only two ... he said we could leave today or we could leave tomorrow ... pretty good line ...

    I've identified 3 options ...

    1. immediate withdrawal (this is the option I favor)
    2. set a timeline (max 6 months) that withdraws troops gradually (based on the passage of time and not the achieving of "benchmark" events)
    3. call for a binding referendum of the Iraqi people on US withdrawal to be held in conjunction with the scheduled elections in December

So, this was my first post on Progressive Independent ... how did I do?

Very well done! Welcome, Welsh Terrier

I know you from another place.:)

Good comments. There are many ways to extricate ourselves. The main thing is that we cannot continue down the current path. It only flames the fighting.
